Monday April 20th is the date for commencement of direct bank deposits for CoVID-19 Emergency Relief

The St. Christopher and Nevis Social Security Board will begin disbursing funds to workers who applied for relief under the Social Security CoVID-19 Emergency Fund, on Monday, April 20th, 2020.

 

The process will continue throughout the week as additional applications are verified.

 

Persons who already had their applications processed will see the funds being deposited directly to their bank accounts. These include: Full time and part-time employees who have been laid off, employed but with reduced hours, persons made redundant as a result of the pandemic and registered Self-employed persons, whose income is impacted by the pandemic.

 

According to a Press Release from the Board, Mr. Antonio Maynard, Director of the Board, said that in the event where an individual has no bank account, cheques will be delivered directly to the recipients.

 

Some 2,000 applications were received by the Department of Labour from workers seeking the top-up of their income that has fallen below $1,000.00.

 

Registered self-employed persons applied directly to Social Security. The Social Security’s $15 million dollar Relief Fund was created to assist all working persons whose income have been directly affected by the CoVID-19 pandemic.
