National Conservation and Environmental Management Bill passed in the National Assembly
The National Conservation and Environmental Management Bill (NCEMA) was passed in the National Assembly on Friday October 31st.
The new legislation was introduced by the Minister of Sustainable Development and Environment, the Hon. Dr. Joyelle Clarke:
The Hon. Dr. Joyelle Clarke. The Bill replaces the National Conservation and Environment Protection Act (NCEPA) of 1987.
Additionally, it establishes a modern, science-based framework for environmental conservation and sustainable growth, which aligns directly with the Federal Government’s SISA (Sustainable Island State Agenda) and the United Nations SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
