Thursday, October 2nd, 2025, has been declared a National Half-Holiday.

This proclamation was declared by Governor-General, Her Excellency Dame Marcella Liburd GCMG JP on Sep. 23^rd, according to a public notice.

This official observance allows the nation to honour and pay tribute to the life and legacy of former Governor-General, His Excellency Sir Edmund Wickham Lawrence, GCMG, OBE, CSM, JP.

Section 5 of the SKN’s Public Holidays Act Cap 23.23 makes provision for public holidays to be proclaimed by the Governor-General.

Sir Lawrence, who served as SKN’s Governor-General from 2013-2015, passed away on Sunday Sep. 7^th. 2025.
