Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs addresses Emancipation Day Protest  

Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, Hon. Vincent Byron Junior addressed the recent protests that were held on August 2nd – (Emancipation Day) at Thursday’s Sitting of the National Assembly.

On Sunday August 1st, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force issued a Notice warning any group against holding any protests on Monday, August 2nd, 2021.

 

The statement reads and I quote: “The High Command wants to make it clear that no application requesting permission for any group or person to organize, coordinate and/or host any meeting or procession in any public space in Basseterre was submitted to the Commissioner of Police. Any such event found to be taking place on Monday, August 2nd, 2021, will be considered unlawful and will be brought to an end and the persons responsible will be prosecuted.”
