Nevis Appropriation Bill to be laid in the Nevis Island Assembly on Dec. 3rd

The Nevis Island Assembly will convene for a Sitting at the Nevis Island Assembly Chambers, Hamilton House, on Tuesday, December 3rd at 10:00 a.m.

 

Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Mark Brantley, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, will seek leave to introduce and have read for the first time the Nevis Appropriation (2025) Bill, 2024. During the sitting, Premier Brantley will present the Budget Address outlining plans and policies for the island.

 

The Bill appropriates certain sums of money for the use of the public service for the island of Nevis for the financial year, which began on January 1st 2025 and ending on December 31st 2025.

 

It is the tune EC $273,172,300. For the fiscal year 2024, the Nevis Appropriation (2024) Bill 2023 was passed in the Nevis Island Assembly, to the tune of $282.7 million: a decrease of about EC $9 million.

 

The Minister of Finance will also lay on the Table the Draft Estimates of Expenditure for 2025. The sitting will be broadcast live on VON Radio 860AM and vonradio.com.

 

Meanwhile, a Sitting of the National Assembly is scheduled to be held at the National Assembly Chambers, Government Headquarters, Basseterre, St. Kitts on Thursday, November 28th, at 10:00 a.m. Four Bills will receive their second reading.

 

Minister responsible for Agriculture et.al., the Hon. Samal Duggins will move the Second reading of the Bill entitled, Public Parks Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2024, while the Minister responsible for Environment et.al, Senator Hon. Dr. Joyelle Clarke will move the Second reading of the Bill Community Beautification and Safety Bill, 2024.

 

While, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, will move the second reading of the Bills entitled ASPIRE Bill, 2024, and the Advance Passenger Information and Passenger Name Record Bill, 2024. Both Bills had their first reading on November 8th 2024.
