Nevis’ Premier gives compares 2023 to 2024 budget during the 2025 budget address

A rebroadcast of the 2025 Budget Address was aired during this week’s edition of the ‘On the Mark’ program.  The address was heard by Premier of Nevis and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Mark Brantley on Tuesday Dec. 3rd, at the Nevis Island Assembly Chambers in Charlestown.

The budget is to the tuner of EC $273.1 million dollars and was presented under the theme: “Moving Forward: People Focused, Supporting Entrepreneurship and Bolstering Job Creation”. This was Mr. Brantley:

 

The main components of the recurrent expenditure for the period under review were personal emoluments 46.86%, goods and services 21.65%, debt service payments 18.13%.

Capital expenditure from January to October 2024 was EC$43.63 million, EC$25.49 less than same period in 2023. Overall, capital spending accounts for 21.47% of total expenditure.

 

According to the Premier, this caused a deficit of 35.81 million dollars to be recorded to the expenditure, the largest deficit in a decade. The fiscal gap narrowed over the last 12 months, moving from EC21.12 million in 2023 to EC19.49 million in 2024.
