Nevis’ Premier presents 2026 Budget

 “A Purpose Driven Agenda: Building our Sustainable Future” was the theme for the 2026 Budget Address, presented by Nevis’ Premier and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Mark Brantley, during a Sitting of the Nevis Island Assembly on Tuesday Dec. 2nd.

 

He provided details about the Nevis Island Administration’s (NIA) expenditure, plans and activities for the 2026 fiscal year.  Before Mr. Brantley began his address, he laid before the house the Draft Estimates of Expenditure for 2026 and Nevis’ Audit Report 2024.  Also, the Nevis Appropriation (2026) Bill, 2025 was read twice. It is to the tune of EC $284, 421, 680.

 

Major allocations for the 2026 budget include: Office of the Premier – $11.2 million (representing 4% of the budget), Ministry of Finance – $128.9 million (representing 45%), Ministry of Communications and Works et al. – $33.7 million (representing 12%), Ministry of Agriculture et al. – $17.7 million (representing 6%), Ministry of Health, Gender Affairs and Social Empowerment – $43.0 million (representing 15%), Ministry of Tourism – $6.5 million (representing 2%), Ministry of Education, Library Services, Information Technology, Youth and Sports – $38.5 million (representing 14%).
