The Agriculture Sector here on Nevis has throughout the year pushed for the general public to “Buy Local, Eat Local”. 

This mantra promoted by the sector aims towards a healthier way of living for citizens and residents with the aim of curbing a number of diseases including Non Communicable Diseases (NCD’s).

For this reason it was impressed upon farmers to produce more local foods for consumption and also for exportation.

In making his address on the 2020 Budget Debate Deputy Premier of Nevis and Minister with responsibility for agriculture the Hon. Alexis Jeffers noted that there has been an increase in the production of crops here on the island.

Minister Jeffers further expounded on this by saying farmers can further use this as an incentive to capitalize on crop production.
