Nevis Renal Society Announces Annual Walkathon for June 20th

The Nevis Renal Society is inviting the public to participate in its annual Walkathon on June 20th, 2026, aimed at raising funds to support individuals living with kidney disease.
Speaking on the latest ‘On the Mark’ Program, Public Relations Officer, Ramie Layden said the walk will begin at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park at 5:30 a.m., with a warm-up session scheduled for 5:00 a.m. This is the route that participants can expect:
For the first time, the event will feature a children’s package costing EC$25, while adult packages are priced at EC$50. Participants will receive a T-shirt, refreshments, fruit and water.
Additionally, the society, which has been serving the community for approximately 27 years, uses funds raised through events to assist renal patients, particularly with dialysis-related expenses. Further, during the discussion, host, the Hon. Mark Brantley highlighted concerns about increasing cases of kidney disease among younger people, noting that diabetes and hypertension remain major risk factors.
Society representatives encouraged residents to know their health numbers attend regular medical checkups and adopt healthier lifestyles to help prevent kidney disease.
