The Nevis Disaster Management Department is encouraging residents and organizations across the island to take part in the CARIBE WAVE 2026 Tsunami Exercise.

The exercise is scheduled for Thursday, March 19th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., and forms part of a regional initiative aimed at strengthening tsunami preparedness throughout the Caribbean.

Participation is being encouraged from businesses, schools, government agencies, mariners, and residents, particularly those living in tsunami-prone areas.

Officials say the drill will help communities practice how to respond in the event of a tsunami threat and improve overall readiness.

Residents are reminded that this is only a drill, and messages indicating “Exercise! Exercise! Exercise!” should not cause alarm.

The Department is also urging the public to remain aware of tsunami warning signs and to move to higher ground immediately if a real threat is detected.
