Nevis’ Statistics Dept. urges full cooperation in ongoing Census, failure to do results in a penalty 

As the 2021/2022 Population and Housing Census continues in St. Kitts and Nevis, Nevis’ Director of Statistics in particular, has told the VON Newsline that the deadline is fast approaching. 

 

Mrs. Dorriel Tross-Phillip also gave this update:

 

 

But what happens if a person refuses to cooperate with the enumerators?  

 

 

Section 19 of the Statistics Act of St. Christopher & Nevis says, “any person found guilty of an offence against this Act or any regulation made thereunder for which no special punishment is provided shall be liable, on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars, and in default of payment to imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months, and in the case of a continuing offence to a further fine not exceeding thirty dollars for each day on which the offence continues after conviction.” 

 

Mrs. Tross-Phillip said the penalty is not the 1st option:
