Nevis Strengthens Its Film Industry

Nevis is pressing ahead with plans to establish itself as a new premier film destination. A new international romance feature film has recently started wrapping up production on the island, showcasing Nevis’ scenic beauty, local talent and growing film industry.

At his most recent press conference, Premier Mark Brantley, Minister of Tourism in the Nevis Island Administration, gave an update on the film industry and spoke about the latest project.

The film, produced by OCTET Productions out of Washington DC, is the first of two projects scheduled to be shot on Nevis within the next month. Filming took place at iconic sites such as Chrishi Beach, the Hamilton Estate ruins, the Four Seasons Resort and the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park. Premier Brantley, who visited the set, thanked the producers Chuck and Bree West for choosing Nevis and expressed optimism about long term partnerships with the African American film community.

Nevis is no stranger to international productions. Previous projects include nine films by UK based MSR Media, as well as fashion shoots and television features. With OCTET now on board, the NIA sees this as another major step in diversifying the economy and growing Nevis’ creative industries.
