Excitement is building ahead of the 2026 Nevis to St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim, with organizers expecting a record turnout for this year’s event. Race director, Jane Hansom shared her sentiments with the VON Newsline:
There are swimmers taking part from all over the world:
The race will begin this Saturday (March 28th) at 8:00 a.m. from Oualie Beach, Nevis and finishes at Cockleshell Bay in St. Kitts. Elite swimmers are expected to complete the crossing in under an hour, while most participants will finish between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
Spectators are encouraged to attend or join a dedicated boat that will follow the swimmers across the channel. Added to the meet is Ms. Alice Dearing who made history at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, as the first black woman to represent Team Great Britain in the field of Swimming at an Olympic Game.
