Nevisian poet reminisce on the art’s progress in Nevis following World Poetry Day

Poets and admirers of the art around the world joined on Thursday, March 21st in celebration of World Poetry Day.

 

 

 

The event was declared by UNESCO 1999, “with the aim of supporting linguistic diversity through poetic expression and increasing the opportunity for endangered languages to be heard”.

 

 

 

Persons across the federation were able to engage in Poetry Readings as they celebrated the use of literature to showcase expression and their imagination. While speaking to the VON NEWSLINE about the day, poet and Brainchild of one of Nevis’ popular readings, Poets in the Square, Mr. P. Clayton Huggins, provided a brief history on the event:
