Nevisian Public urged to participate in the 2nd Tree of Tales Holiday Reading Competition

The Nevis Public Library invites readers of all ages to take part in its holiday reading event under the theme: “Tree of Tales: Read! Decorate! Celebrate!” The festive competition ends on December 12th, 2025.

Librarian Swanston-Wilkin told the VON Newsline these words:

Participants are asked to read books, at least half borrowed from the Nevis Public Library, and create a special ornament for each title completed. These ornaments will be hung and displayed on the library’s “Tree of Tales,” as each book is completed to add to the festive spirit of the library space.

Competition categories include ages 3–5, 6–8, 9–11, 12–16, and 17 & up. The reader with the most books completed in each age group will win a prize, and additional awards will be given for the best decorated ornament in every category. A prize giving presentation is scheduled for December 19th, 2025.

Ornament cutouts and registration packets are available at the library.

For more information, contact 469-5521 Ext. 6860/6862 or email central.library@niagov.com. Individuals are to note that for the ages 3-4, the parent or guardian will be responsible for borrowing the books and engaging in shared reading time.
