Newcastle Police Station & Fire Unit formally opens

The Newcastle Police Station & Fire Unit officially opened on Thursday Dec. 3rd, here on Nevis. In November 2016, Premier (then), the Hon. Vance Amory made the announcement that the police station has become unfit for humans to work in and it has become necessary to safeguard the police from further exposure to what he termed, as unhealthy conditions there.

Based on a press release from the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), Mr. Amory stated that the Hon. Alexis Jeffers, who is the Area Representative for the Parish of St. James, will spearhead the process of demolishing the building, finding a suitable plan and the relevant financing to construct a new police station in that area.

Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, said the edifice is evidence that the Governments (Federally and locally), work well.
