A consultation took place at the Pond Hill Community Centre on Thursday, November 14th, to update the Nevisian public about the Vance W. Amory International Airport development project.
The project overview and results of the recently completed Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) were shared. Special Advisor to the Premier Hon. Alexis Jeffers, said the project would positively impact all sectors such as Tourism and bolster job opportunities:
Mr. Jeffers then introduced Dan Casal, one of the experts working on the project and he gave an overview on the work to be done:
Mr. Casal explained that the EIA has been completed and would be published to the public for interested persons as an open document to discuss and share interests, recommendations and questions.
The EIA consists of 7 chapters and 100 pages. These 7 chapters are Legal framework, Description of existing Environment, Project Description, Environmental Impacts, Proposal of mitigation measures, Technical proposals for the sustainability of the project and recommendations.
The total costs for this project is estimated to be US$37.4 million.
