NIA “to ensure that eligible workers receive their Honorarium”, more info to come “shortly”

The Office of the Premier within the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) has issued a Statement, regarding the payment of an Honorarium to Frontline Workers on Nevis.

This comes following a Press Release issued on Wednesday that indicated Frontline workers (or essential workers), will be rewarded for their services during the COVID-19 pandemic, by way of a one-time payment of an EC$2,000.00 Honorarium.

The statement mentioned that “the NIA has been made aware through Media reports of the decision of the Federal Cabinet to pay an Honorarium to Frontline workers in St. Kitts.”

The Federal Ministry of Finance completed the work necessary to facilitate the payment of the Honorarium to the Frontline workers on payday (Friday October 21st) with their regular pay.

However, “the 24-hour timeframe of the media reports has not allowed the Nevis Island Administration the opportunity to determine the complete list of eligible workers on Nevis and their payment,” the NIA said.

Furthermore, NIA mentioned that it “is committed to ensuring that all Frontline workers who actually worked and assisted during the Covid-19 pandemic are provided with this token of appreciation.” It added “Once the lists are complete, the administration shall ensure that eligible workers receive their Honorariums and shall provide additional information shortly as to payment.”
