November is Tourism Awareness Month in St. Kitts

With the upcoming high peak of the tourism season in the federation which will be from (December to April), the Ministry of Tourism – St. Kitts will be having its Tourism Awareness Month 2024 in November, under the theme: “Tourism for Tomorrow: Driven by Community, Committed to Sustainability.”

 

The month will kick off with a State of the Industry Event on Thursday October 31st 2024 at 5:30 p.m. The event will feature highly credential panelists in the Tourism industry and will give information on the vision and future of Tourism in St. Kitts, such as: cruise tourism, a new era of travel, insights and strategies particularly in the areas of sustainability, innovation and resilience.

 

The VON Newsline spoke with Tourism Officer, Shaline Welcome-Hart about the various activities one of which is the “Pioneers of the Industry Training”. It will provide strategic training that will enhance the skillset of new and potential employees of the hospitality and tourism sector. The ministry has partnered with T.V.E.T. in St. Kitts to do an introductory certificate for participants who will complete various areas, such as: culinary, dining room service, housekeeping, bartending, and administration. Participants will receive practical classroom sessions and an “on-the-job” training day where they will be placed in various establishments on the island.
