Following the official resignation of the People’s Action Movement (PAM’s) leader, Natasha Grey-Brookes, the political party has issued a statement on the process of choosing its next political leader.
“The Council of PAM has set the date to choose its sixth Political Leader, following the resignation of the holder of the position on July 31st, 2026…Nominations for the position are now open and will close on Tuesday August 25th, 2026” PAM said.
The election of the leader will take place on Tuesday, September 1st, 2026, at a Special Caucus. In addition, PAM said “the position of Political Leader is open to all members of the Party who are in good standing and who meet the established requirements.”
On July 28th, Mrs. Grey Brookes stated on her Facebook page that she “made the decision to step down as Political Leader of the People’s Action Movement”. She mentioned that “it has never been my desire to become the reason that such a great movement falls short of fulfilling its mission. Our country needs strong leadership, a strong opposition, and a united People’s Action Movement.”
The former leader added “as for my own political future, many have asked whether I intend to contest the next General Election.” The first week of August was initially set as a period for her to “share her decision with the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.”
