PAM to celebrate 60th anniversary

The People’s Action Movement (PAM) will celebrate its diamond anniversary, as it will turn 60 years on Sunday Jan. 19th.

 

PAM was founded on Jan. 19th 1965 by Mr. William Valentine “Billy” Herbert. The party first came into government in 1980 as it formed a coalition with the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) and remained in power until 1995. Then again from Feb. 2015-May 2022, as part of Team Unity coalition with the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) out of Nevis and People’s Labour Party (PLP).

 

Currently, the party has one seat in the National Assembly. Under PAM, St. Kitts & Nevis gained independence in 1983, St. Kitts’ first cruise pier was constructed and the Citizen By Investment Program (CBI) was created in 1984, the oldest in the world of its kind.

 

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, PAM will host an event at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, at 7pm, on Saturday Jan. 18th. Among the entertainment will be Nevis’ Garlic & Upper Level Band. During the event, a tribute to will be given to the party’s past and present leaders.
