PAP to be upgraded to LIFT to genuinely empower beneficiaries, program to launch in 2024

Minister of State with responsibility for Social Development, Isalean Phillip. The announcement was in relation to the Poverty Alleviation Programme (PAP) as it will be transitioned and evolve to become LIFT. However, the programs will not be running concurrently. Under the PAP program, established since 2018, households earning less than EC $3000 a month, receive an additional EC $500.

 

 

 

LIFT which is the (Livelihood Improvement for Family Transformation) programme, is set to launch in 2024 and is a response to the need to offer opportunities to genuinely empower beneficiaries. A key aspect of LIFT is:

 

 

 

 

 

MEND (Mould, Empower, Nurture, and Direct) family programme was announced by the Labour Party in 2022 General (Federal) Elections. According to the party at the time, it will provide up to $1500 per month per family, where each family will be attached to a social worker, free employment training and free business plan development.
