Park Hyatt tip sharing policy: “Gov’t will not sit idly by”, says Minister Henderson
“The Government will not sit idly by while any policy threatens the fairness or livelihood of our workers”
The words from the Minister of Labour and Employment (MoL&E) and Tourism Hon. Marsha Henderson. The comments come amid concerns which have arisen regarding a recently introduced tip-sharing policy at the Park Hyatt, St. Kitts.
The MoL&E convened a multi-agency task force to investigate the matter and work toward a resolution in the best interest of the affected workers.
Together with Minister Henderson, the task force has been meeting over the past several weeks, and has been meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, the Labour Department, the Attorney General’s Chambers, and the hotel’s management team, in consultation with the St. Kitts-Nevis Trades and Labour Union.
The group has been reviewing the policy in detail and engaging in constructive dialogue aimed at restoring balance, ensuring compliance, and safeguarding the rights of all employees.
