Parliamentarians in the Nevis Island Assembly, to receive 15% salary increase

Members of Parliament (MP’s) in the Nevis Island Assembly, will see a 15% salary increase, which took effect on June 1st 2024, according to Premier and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Mark Brantley.

This he said, during his monthly press conference on June 19th. The increase also applies to the President of the Assembly.

Earlier this year, MP’s in the National Assembly received a salary increase of over 30 percent. However, Premier Brantley indicated at his press conference, that the decision of the 15% was agreed upon, considering civil servants (excluding Ministers of Government) received a 15 percent increase over a three year period (retroactive in 2022, 2023 and 2024 were not retroactive).

Moreover, Mr. Brantley stated that the 15% for Parliamentarians will not be retroactive.
