“Paying criminals to keep the peace” rumor slammed by Premier of Nevis

Premier of Nevis the Hon. Mark Brantley has address the issue of “paying criminals to keep the peace” here on the island.

Speaking at his monthly Press Conference on Thursday 31st October, Premier Brantley dismissed the  idea and explained that it was a program initiated at the invitation of some of the at risk youths.

According to the Finance Minister the discussions were brokered by intermediaries where a decision was made to assist these individuals who were finding it difficult to live a normal productive life and provide for themselves and their families.

This he said was by means of assistance and partnership with the Federal Government on projects and or business ideas these individuals may have had.

He provided an insight into the situation here on Nevis.

The Premier also explained that guidance is being provided to these individuals in launching their various projects and business ideas.
