Phase 2 is here! – Federal Ban on Single Use Plastics in St. Kitts and Nevis begins

Phase 2 on the ban of the single use plastics initiative began on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025 in St. Kitts and Nevis where the importation of Styrofoam Food Containers and Plastic Straws is now banned.

 

 

However, on July 31st 2025, will be the date when the distribution and sale of these items will be prohibited.

 

 

Previously, March 31st, 2025, marked the ending of phase 1 of the restriction on the distribution and sale of t-shirt shopping bags. Persons have now switched to paper and other reusable options.

 

 

The final phase is slated for August 31st, 2025, where single use plastic utensils, plates and cups will no longer be imported, then no longer sold or distributed on November 30th, 2025.
