Phase 2 of the Island’s Main Road Rehabilitation Project continues, public asked to be cautious

Phase 2 of the Island’s Main Road Rehabilitation Project from Cliff Dwellers to Nisbett’s Plantation on Nevis continues and as a consequence, the public is urged to proceed with caution and comply with all traffic signs etc.

 

 

 

Project Manager, Dillon Webbe, provided these details:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This does not include if a person is doing a quick stop. Additionally, he spoke of work that will be done in the Newcastle area, which includes culverts being built:

 

 

 

 

 

The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) signed an $11.7 million dollar contract for the project, with Surrey Paving & Aggregate Company Caribbean Ltd. in October 2022.

 

 

 

The project covers 1.5 km of road from Cliffdwellers Estate to the Nisbett’s Bridge, and 0.9 km of road from Shaws Road to Nisbett’s Plantation. The first phase of the enhancement project was completed in 2019. However, the project was “delayed in 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic”.
