PLP calls on C.O.P. to provide update on the murder investigation of party’s chairman
People’s Labour Party (PLP) Leader, the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris, has issued an appeal to the Commissioner of Police (COP), to update the family of the late Azziwah Niles-Jones.
42-year-old Niles-Jones, who was the Party’s Chairman for the Central Basseterre (St. Christopher #2) constituency group, was gunned down along the Island’s Main road at Holland Ghaut, outside Keys Village, St. Kitts, on Aug. 20th 2024. This was the Federation’s 25th murder for the year.
Police say they discovered his lifeless body slouched over in the driver’s seat of his motor pickup, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was found on the mountain side of the road, with the vehicle pointed in the direction of Basseterre. Vadel Benjamin received a single gunshot wound to the back of his neck, as he was with Niles-Jones on the night of the attack, but he was warded at the JNF Hospital.
PLP’s Leader Dr. Harris said at the Party’s press conference on Oct. 16th, Niles-Jones death was a “political assassination”.
Meantime, when asked by the VONNEWSLINE if there is any update on the matter, a police spokesperson said “no”.
