That’s Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris.

PM Harris made the announcement during an Address to the nation on Saturday, March 28^th, 2020.

The Prime Minister mentioned that he asked His Excellency, the Governor General, Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton on Friday evening (March 27^th), to declare a State of Emergency (SOE).

The address comes due to the Coronavirus (CoVID-19) pandemic and cases of the virus being confirmed here in St. Kitts-Nevis.

Prime Minister Harris stated that the SOE is part of the Government’s scaled-up response to contain CoVID-19 and minimize harm to residents of SKN.

Prime Minister Harris was listing the services, which are necessary for the proper functioning of our country.

In his Address to the nation, he continued to enumerate the other services.

In regards to the services that are necessary for the country, according to PM Harris, Airports subject to regulation 10, Commercial courier flights, Businesses licensed to provide security guard services, Takeaway food vendors from 6 am to 5 pm, the National Caribbean Insurance Company or health insurance companies and such other businesses or undertakings as may be specifically exempted in writing by the Commissioner of Police.
