PM Drew and delegation attends 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly

The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew and his delegation are currently attending the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

 

 

The UNGA is held every September at the UN Headquarters in New York. At this gathering, world leaders from the United Nations Member States meet to debate key issues affecting the world.

 

This year’s theme is “A Watershed Moment: Transformative Solutions to Interlocking Challenges”.

 

Key topics of discussion at the UNGA this year will include: the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis, climate action, ending the COVID-19 pandemic and a special Transforming Education Summit,” according to weforum.org.

 

Accompanying the Prime Minister will be several Ministers of government and staff members from the Office of the Prime Minister.

 

The Prime Minister is scheduled to address the General Assembly on Friday, September 23rd, 2022.

 

Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley has been appointed as the Acting Prime Minister in the absence of the Prime Minister Drew.

 

He is expected to return on Monday, September 26th, 2022.
