Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis and current CARICOM Chair, Dr. Terrance Drew, says the regional body must be strengthened to better serve the people of the Caribbean.
The Prime minister made the statement while in Dominica following a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, as part of his ongoing consultations with regional leaders ahead of the 50th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government.
Dr. Drew explained that these visits are aimed at direct engagement with leaders to help invigorate CARICOM and ensure it remains responsive and relevant during challenging times.
Discussions between the two leaders focused on regional integration, strengthening key institutions, improving trade and cooperation, and delivering tangible benefits to citizens across the region.
The CARICOM Chair noted that difficult periods often test the strength of organizations, but said the Community is prepared to rise to the occasion.
The Heads of Government Meeting will be held in St. Kitts and Nevis from February 24th to 27th.
