Under the theme “My Health My Right”, World Health was celebrated by many nations on Sunday, April 7th.
According to the World Health Organization, this year’s theme was chosen to champion the right of everyone, everywhere to have access to quality health services, education, and information, as well as safe drinking water, clean air, good nutrition, quality housing, decent working and environmental conditions, and freedom from discrimination.
During an address to commemorate the day, Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew spoke on the current status of healthcare in the federation along with the goals attained and being worked towards in the sector. He also implored all citizens to take their health into their own hands and work towards being educated and up-to-date in their physical, mental and social wellbeing:
