PM Drew Sets the Record Straight on Bradshaw Museum Investments

The Federal Government has refuted statements by former Prime Minister Timothy Harris regarding the Bradshaw Museum project.

Dr. Harris stated that that EC $14m has been spent on the project under the Labour-led administration.

However, the Government stated under $1 million has been invested “to stabilize the Bradshaw residence, ensuring the preservation of this historic structure while planning for its responsible development into a national museum.”

Dr. Harris has stated in the past that while Mr. Bradshaw deserves to be honoured, the money could have been used for something else.

The government said Bradshaw Museum will be used to preserve the legacy of the Federation’s first National Hero and providing a cultural and educational resource for future generations.

Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw (16 September 1916 – 23 May 1978) was the first Premier of Saint Kitts and Nevis, and served as Chief Minister, legislator, and labour activist. Bradshaw was posthumously awarded the title of First National Hero and is honoured annually on National Heroes Day, which is observed on his birthday.
