Prime Minister and Federal Minister of Health, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, has expressed his “deepest condolences” to the parents, family members and friends of 16-year-old Kevon Woode.
On May 5th 2024, Kevon was resuscitated at the Alexandra Hospital on Nevis, after being found unresponsive while swimming at Pinney’s Beach. He was airlifted for life-saving surgery after suffering a broken neck. He received assistance from the Federal Government’s Children Medical Fund and other donors and was recovering in Guyana.
However, he was moved to the ICU on Saturday morning Dec. 14th. Sadly, according to a social media post by his father, Devon (aka DJ Woody), at 4:20am on Sunday Dec. 15th, “Kevon took his last breath.”
PM Drew said following his death “while we may not be able to save every child, each one deserves a fighting chance at life. Let us come together to support those grieving this profound loss.”
Furthermore, Nevis’ Premier, the Hon. Mark Brantley, stated “I join all of Nevis and St Kitts and the Guyanese community in extending deepest sympathies to Woody and Sheena and their entire family. May the prayers of the multitude comfort his family in this difficult time.”
