Police Investigate Suspected Drowning in Dieppe Bay

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis police Force is investigating a suspected drowning incident reported in Dieppe Bay, St. Kitts, on the evening of December 17th, 2025.

 

Police say the incident is believed to have occurred between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. upon arrival at the scene, officers observed forty-year-old Travis Smithen of Rawlins Project, St. Paul’s, lying unresponsive along the shoreline.

 

Preliminary investigations indicate that Mr. Smithen had been diving with friends when he reportedly became unresponsive in the water. He was brought ashore, where he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The Crime Scene Unit processed the area, and a post-mortem examination has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.

 

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has extended sincere condolences to the family and friends affected by Mr. Smithen’s untimely passing.
