Police investigating Two Armed Robbery Incidents

Authorities are investigating two armed robberies that occurred recently in the Basseterre area in St. Kitts. Both incidents involved masked suspects and the use of firearms, and in each case, the perpetrators fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.

The first incident happened on the night of July 18th, between 10:00 and 10:30 PM, on Upper Market Street. A female bar owner reported that while she was closing her business, two masked men, armed with weapons, approached her and forcibly removed two gold chains from her neck. The suspects then escaped through a nearby overgrown and abandoned property.

The second robbery occurred two days later, on the morning of July 20th, between 11:00 and 11:30 AM, at the Hong Yun Supermarket located on Bay Road in Newtown. According to the store owner, two masked males dressed in black and wearing gloves entered the supermarket. One of the individuals was visibly armed with a handgun. The suspects stole an undisclosed sum of money, along with lighters and rolling paper, before fleeing the scene.

Both locations have been processed by the Crime Scene Unit, and several items of evidential value have been collected. Investigations remain ongoing, and authorities have confirmed that multiple leads are currently being pursued.
