Lawmen have seized the 1st illegal firearm for 2023 for the island of Nevis.

Superintendent of Police, James Sutton, confirmed the seizure to the VONNEWSLINE.

Circumstances are that on Thursday afternoon, Jan 5th, at around 2:15pm, Police Officers and Soldiers from the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force stopped and searched a vehicle while conducting an operation in Gingerland.

Following the search, police seized one .380 pistol with nine (9) .380 rounds of ammunition. Andrez Bartlette is in custody in relation to the illegal firearm.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
