A politician in St. Kitts was arrested on Thursday Mar. 26th, following a search conducted by police. Police have confirmed the identity of the individual: People’s Action Movement (PAM)’s candidate for Constituency #2 (or Central Basseterre), Mr. Nubian Greaux.

In the wake of this, PAM issued a statement saying it “acknowledges reports that our candidate for Constituency #2, Mr. Nubian Greaux, was the subject of a police search. We understand that the search was conducted on suspicion of controlled drugs, arms, and ammunition, and that Mr. Greaux has since been arrested in connection with an alleged controlled substance.”

The political party mentioned that “Mr. Greaux is entitled to due process, the protection of his constitutional rights, and a fair and impartial hearing.”

It added that it is “in the process of ascertaining the full facts surrounding this matter” and urged the public “to avoid speculation or premature conclusions”.

A police spokesperson told the VONNEWSLINE that presently, “no charges have been laid against Mr. Greaux.”
