In light of the newly appointed President of the Nevis Island Assembly, Premier of Nevis, Hon. Mark Brantley has extended gratitude for the years of service to Mr. Farrel Smithen the former president.

Mr. Smithen served as President of the Nevis Island Assembly from March 26th 2013 to January 18th, 2023.

Mr. Brantley was quoted as saying “Please join me in paying homage to and saying thank you to Hon. Farrell Smithen… His service in Parliament and to Nevis has been exemplary especially his work to revive the youth Parliament, ensuring that young people have or had the opportunity to learn about and participate in parliamentary sessions locally, regionally and internationally.”

Mr. Brantley also added that Mr. Smithen will continue to serve as a consultant to the Parliament and lend his expertise to assist the new President of the Nevis Island Assembly, Hon. Michelle Slack
