Premier’s ePoster series spotlights internet safety tips for children

Nevis’ Premier, the Hon. Mark Brantley, highlighted five top tips for Children’s Online Safety.

The third edition in the ePoster series spotlights that the younger generations on Nevis are being exposed to online harms and these simple measures can help protect them. The measures mentioned include:

Tip #1-Don’t Talk to Strangers. If someone you don’t know messages then don’t reply. Only chat with people your family and teacher know. Tip #2-Keep Passwords Secret. Your password is just for you. Don’t share them with anyone except a trusted adult.

Tip #3-Don’t Share Personal Stuff. Never tell someone online your full name or where you live or what school you go to. Tip #4-Watch What You Click. Some games, videos or messages can be tricky. If something pops up that’s looks strange then don’t click it.

Tip #5-Ask an Adult for Help. Some things online can make you feel confused. Talk to someone you trust as soon as it happens.

Educators, parents and caregivers are urged to further discuss online safety of our young children, in the classroom and home.
