Prime Minister Drew visits Ethiopia and Algeria

Prime Minister, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, says his recent visit to Shashemene, Ethiopia, was a moving experience, describing it as a place of deep spiritual and cultural importance to the Caribbean. He said he and his CARICOM colleagues were warmly embraced by their brothers and sisters in the diaspora, receiving sacred garments and token of love that highlighted the unbreakable bond between Africa and the Caribbean.

The Prime Minister called it a true demonstration of what he described as Global Africa.

At the close of Day Two of the Intra-African Trade Fair in Algiers, Dr. Drew, along with Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley of Barbados and Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell of Grenada, toured the exhibition. The leaders met directly with African suppliers and entrepreneurs and were accompanied by the President of Afreximbank, Professor Benedict Omarah.

The engagements, Prime Minister Drew says, underscored the deepening trade and investment ties now developing between Africa and the Caribbean.
