Public asked to wear our National Colours for the 42nd Celebration of the nation’s Independence

In celebration of its 42nd Anniversary of Independence, St. Kitts and Nevis proudly embraces the theme “Perpetual Progress – A Sustainable Future in View.”

A key part of the festivities is National Colours Day, when citizens and residents wear the national colours each Friday to national spirit and unity.

The schedule begins this Friday, August 29th with green, that represents the nation’s fertile land.

It continues on September 5 with red, representing the struggle from slavery through colonialism to independence, followed by yellow on September 12, reflecting our year-round sunshine.

On September 19th, that date when 42 years ago in 1983, the federation secured its independence, the public will wear white which signifies our hope and liberty.

The final colour, black, representing our African heritage, will be worn on Friday, September 26.
