The St. Kitts and Nevis Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has announced its Discounted VAT Rate Days for the Back-to-School Season in August.

The discounts will take place over two days: Friday 15^th and Saturday 16^th August. VAT on eligible goods will be reduced from 17% to just 5%, providing an opportunity for parents, students and teachers to stock up on needed school supplies.

 Additionally, from July 1^st to September 30^th, 2025, specific school supplies will benefit from a 0% Discounted VAT rate, giving families extra room in their budgets as they prepare for the new academic year. Approved VAT-registered businesses across the Federation will offer: 5% VAT on tangible goods in stock. Items must be issued or delivered on VAT Day to qualify as pre-orders and items unavailable for immediate delivery do not qualify for the reduced rate.

Guns & ammunition, cigarettes & tobacco products, alcoholic beverages and vehicles will not be included. Businesses wishing to participate must download the application at www.sknird.com or visit IRD offices in Basseterre or Charlestown. Completed forms must be submitted by 4pm (today) Monday, 11^th August 2025.
