Public encouraged to use 911 Dispatch System in time of Emergency

With the launch of Nevis’ new 911 Dispatch System, the general public is being encouraged to use the system in the face of emergencies.

 

 

Before the implementation of the network, persons were discouraged from dialing 911, as most times, the call would be answered in nearby islands instead of an emergency worker on Nevis, delaying the response time for persons in need of urgent help. This resulted in persons having to call the direct lines of the hospital, fire and police stations.

 

 

The new system now allows persons in need to call 911 and reach trained professionals on the island that are ready to provide assistance in the best possible manner. This is according to Premier of Nevis, Hon. Mark Brantley in an update provided on Wednesday, August 6th:
