Public school students receive digital devices during Digital Literacy Day

Public school students across Nevis have already begun to receive digital devices as part of an initiative to improve digital literacy in schools.

 

 

Funded by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and the Taiwanese ICDF, both primary and secondary school students will receive either a tablet or a laptop for their own personal use along with the schools to use as part of their daily lessons. The handing over of devices in the primary schools took place on May 21st 2025 also recognized as Digital Literacy Day.

 

 

Minister of Education et al. Hon. Troy Liburd led a team of officials from the Ministry of Education to distribute the devices and enlightened the students on the importance of digital literacy and technology in education. Also apart of the contingent were Principal Education Officer, Ms. Londa Brown, Principal Assistant Secretary, Mr. Jamir Claxton and Deputy Principal Education Officer, Mr. Juan Williams.

 

 

Principal Education Officer, Ms. Londa Brown spoke to the students during the distribution and took the opportunity to remind students how technology can transform education and open doors to endless possibilities.

 

 

Secondary school students are expected to receive their devices this week.
