The National Recycling Project, in the month of June 2025, St. Kitts and Nevis altogether collected 10,311.19 pounds in recyclable materials.
According to information released by Let’s Recycle St. Kitts and Nevis, items ranged from mostly plastic materials to metal and aluminum materials. The organization stated that although the goal of 15,000 pounds of materials recycled was not reached, it commended the efforts of the participating public to relief pressure on our landfills and make a positive impact on the environment.
As the group continues its sustainability efforts, Recycling Coordinator on Nevis, Ms. Shelagh James, emphasized the importance of waste separation:

-
Donate unwanted clothes or repurpose them for cleaning or crafts.
-
Give food waste to livestock farmers to feed their animals as well as use food waste to make compost or mulch.
-
Try mending items before discarding them, for example, taking your shoes to a cobbler to be fixed.
