The official commencement of the restoration work on the Charlestown Methodist Church has begun.
In light of this, a Ground Breaking ceremony was held at the grounds of the church on November 3rd, 2022.
The ceremony in question saw the removal of the church’s bell-free to initiate the first phase of the project.
The renovation of the Charlestown Methodist church which was built in 1844 has been under consideration since 2013, according to a member of the Nevis Methodist Church Trust Corporation, Mr. Hanzel Manners who spoke on the plans for the initial phase.
Phase one of the project is said to be focused on the renovation of the internal structure of the church, including the installment of steel frames in the basement, previously known as the Charlestown Boy’s School, most of the wooden structure will be replaced with green heart wood, along with the roofing of the church to be re-done with galvanize.
