The Team Unity coalition, comprising of three (3) political parties here in St. Kitts and Nevis namely: the CCM Party, the People’s Action Movement (PAM) and People’s Labour Party (PLP), won 9 out of the 11 seats in the June 5th General Election.

In the 2015 General Election, the coalition won 7 of those seats (PAM-4, CCM-2, PLP-1). In the recent Election, Team Unity increased in the number of seats (PAM-4, CCM-3, PLP-2).

But what does this represent?

Although this election has been regarded as a “landslide victory” and “historic”, Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, during his swearing-in ceremony on Sunday June 7th, said the Election results was a rejection, of a number of things.

PM Harris, who is also the Leader of the PLP, has been the Representative for St. Christopher #7 for over 20 years.

His opponent in the June 5th General Election was the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP’s) Candidate for St. Christopher #7, Mr. Leon Natta-Nelson.
