St. Kitts and Nevis welcomed the start of its summer cruise season on Wednesday as the Rhapsody of the Seas made its first scheduled call to Port Zante in Basseterre.
The vessel arrived with approximately 2,360 passengers, providing a boost for local businesses and the tourism sector during what is traditionally considered the off-season for cruise travel.
According to the St. Christopher Air and Sea Port Authority (SCASPA), the visit marks the first of nine scheduled calls by cruise lines between June and September.
Officials say the continued presence of cruise vessels during the summer months helps strengthen the Federation’s position as a year-round tourism destination.
SCASPA also noted that 20 cruise ship calls are scheduled for Port Zante throughout the summer period.
The latest visit highlights the ongoing contribution of cruise tourism to economic activity across the Federation.
