The Rotary Club of St. Kitts, a service organization focused on community development and public welfare initiatives, is expanding its public health outreach through its annual Prostate Screening event.
The event is scheduled for this Saturday (May 16th) at Lodge Mount Olive in Taylor’s. The initiative aims to increase early detection of Prostate Cancer among men in St. Kitts and Nevis by offering free medical screenings and reducing barriers to access.
Club President, Alicia Whyte told the VON Newsline about all the health checks that will be provided:
White noted the program’s steady growth, rising from approximately 160 participants in its early years to 364 last year, with a target of over 400 men this year.
Beyond health services, youth affiliates such as the Interact Club of Basseterre High School and Rotaract members will sell breakfast to fund student support initiatives, including exam care packages for under-resourced students.
Organizers are also providing island-wide transportation, including dedicated services for disabled participants, underscoring their goal of ensuring no barriers to participation in life-saving early screening. Persons can call the number 662-2224 for more information.
